Job Description
A rapidly growing construction organization is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to support large-scale data center construction projects in the Salt Lake City area. The EHS Manager will serve as the subject matter expert for all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) matters and will have the authority to stop work in cases of imminent danger to workers, the public, or the environment.

This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with company HSE policies, client requirements, and all applicable local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations. The EHS Manager will lead safety initiatives across active construction sites while promoting a strong safety culture focused on incident prevention and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Administer and manage a comprehensive HSE program to promote safe work practices, safe working conditions, and regulatory compliance across employees, subcontractors, and sub-tier subcontractors
  • Integrate company HSE policies and procedures with client-specific safety programs on data center construction projects
  • Support all HSE efforts across project operations and promote a strong safety-first culture
  • Promote a positive attitude and an Incident Free philosophy
  • Coordinate HSE activities with project stakeholders and clients
  • Plan, direct, and conduct periodic HSE assessments of jobsites and offices
  • Coordinate and manage annual HSE training programs, including:
    • Drug-Free Workplace (employee and supervisor)
    • Confined space
    • Trench and excavation safety
    • First aid and CPR
    • Competent person training
    • OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour training
  • Oversee DOT compliance for drivers, trucks, and trailers
  • Develop and deliver additional project-specific safety training as needed
  • Conduct HSE orientations for employees and subcontractors to familiarize teams with site-specific conditions, safe work practices, procedures, and ongoing HSE education
  • Monitor subcontractor and sub-tier subcontractor compliance with applicable HSE requirements
  • Lead or assist with incident investigations and ensure structured incident case management procedures are consistently followed
  • Train and advise personnel regarding HSE regulations, assessments, and safe work processes
  • Develop and facilitate HSE engagement activities that maintain employee awareness and participation
  • Interpret and communicate HSE regulations and requirements for all project operations
  • Complete and submit timely HSE reports and documentation
  • Ensure reports are reviewed by project leadership and safety leadership teams
  • Track and report HSE performance metrics and incident trends
  • Communicate hazardous conditions, near misses, and safety concerns to employees and management
  • Facilitate Safety Committee meetings and manage meeting notes, action items, and follow-up activities
  • Recommend corrective and disciplinary actions for HSE violations when necessary
  • Maintain employee training records and OSHA-required documentation
  • Support occasional domestic travel as required
Required Qualifications
General Requirements
  • 5–10 years of experience in an HSE Manager or similar leadership role
  • 2–3 years of experience serving as an HSE trainer within industrial or commercial construction environments
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in underground utility construction, civil infrastructure, or similar heavy construction work
  • Experience supporting large-scale construction projects, preferably mission-critical or data center environments
  • Strong working knowledge of federal regulations including:
    • OSHA 29 CFR 1910
    • OSHA 29 CFR 1926
    • EPA regulations
    • DOT compliance requirements
  • Ability to research and interpret federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations and apply them to construction operations
Technical & Functional Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software including spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and reporting tools
  • Ability to analyze problems independently and implement corrective actions
  • Ability to work in both office and active construction environments including:
    • Stairs and ladders
    • Elevated work areas
    • Confined or limited-access spaces
    • Uneven and rough terrain
  • Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends with limited notice
  • Experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or plant environments
  • Additional training and/or experience in:
    • Trenching and excavation
    • Shoring systems
    • Confined space entry
    • Traffic control
    • DOT compliance
Preferred Qualifications
  • CHST certification
  • Associate degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field
  • OSHA 500 certification
  • Experience supporting mission-critical or data center construction projects
