Position Summary
The client is seeking an experienced agency Accountant to support general accounting operations during a true vacancy. This role will assist with the month-end close process, journal entries, ledger postings, account reconciliations, account balancing, financial statement support, and data gathering across multiple systems. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently in a hybrid environment and will bring strong accounting experience, preferably within a hospital or healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general accounting duties in support of the client.
- Participate in the accounting close process.
- Prepare and post journal entries to appropriate ledgers.
- Support account reconciliations, account balancing, and related close activities.
- Assist with financial statement preparation and financial reporting support.
- Gather, validate, analyze accounting data using multiple systems.
- Capable to working independently to resolve questions/issues through education/experience/research.
- Support foundation-related accounting entries as needed.
- Use general ledger and reporting tools, including Hyperion exposure where applicable.
- Maintain accurate analytical records and communicate issues or discrepancies promptly.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- In lieu of a degree, 15+ years of accounting experience may be considered, particularly in hospital accounting.
- Experience preparing journal entries and posting to ledgers.
- Experience with account reconciliations, balancing, and close processes.
- Ability to work comfortably across multiple accounting and financial systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hospital or healthcare accounting experience.
- Experience supporting foundation accounting or foundation-related entries.
- Experience with Hyperion or similar financial reporting systems.
- Prior experience in a health system accounting environment.
