Job Description
- The client is seeking a motivated and coachable Associate Software Developer to support its Master Data Management (MDM) team.
- This role is a strong fit for an early-career developer or technical analyst with some hands-on coding experience who is looking to grow in a meaningful, mission-driven environment.
- The MDM team supports critical shared services that help connect and validate data across multiple systems.
- This work plays an important role in identity resolution, golden record generation, and downstream data delivery for Health and Human Services programs.
- The team operates in a complex, high-impact environment and is looking to add a developer who can contribute to day-to-day support, learn existing services and patterns, and grow into a long-term member of the team.
- This is not a role that requires prior experience in a specific MDM product or platform.
- The ideal candidate is curious, adaptable, comfortable learning new technologies, and interested in supporting systems that integrate data across a broad public-sector landscape.
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of existing data services, APIs, and related processes.
- Assist with investigation and resolution of lower-tier technical issues and production support requests.
- Make small, bounded updates to existing APIs, payloads, and service configurations under guidance.
- Run established jobs and operational processes as needed and help validate outcomes.
- Contribute to larger implementation efforts by taking on clearly defined development and support tasks.
- Partner with technical leads and analysts to understand how data moves across systems and how services support business processes.
- Help document changes, issue patterns, and support procedures to improve team knowledge sharing.
- Follow established privacy, security, and compliance guardrails when working with sensitive data and systems.
- Collaborate with team members across MDM, program management, and adjacent data teams.
Minimum experience/skills:
- Some hands-on coding experience through internships, academic projects, research, technical analyst work, or early professional experience.
- Basic familiarity with software development concepts such as APIs, structured data, and system-to-system data exchange.
- Some SQL experience and comfort working with data.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new tools, technologies, and technical patterns quickly.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions, take direction, and incorporate feedback.
- Ability to work in a regulated environment with strong attention to privacy, security, and operational guardrails.
- Interest in contributing to a mission-driven public-sector technology environment.
- Experience with Python, Java, SQL, SAS, or similar technologies.
- Internship, fellowship, or early-career experience supporting production systems, integrations, or operational workflows.
- Exposure to healthcare, payer, human services, government, or other regulated data environments.
- Familiarity with APIs, JSON, and troubleshooting data flows.
- Experience contributing to technical projects with concrete outcomes.
- Exposure to sensitive data environments, including HIPAA-governed contexts, is a plus.
- Experience working with legacy systems, enterprise platforms, or existing codebases is a plus.
- This role is designed for someone who is ready for a first or early software development opportunity in a complex enterprise environment.
- Candidates do not need prior Master Data Management or IBM InfoSphere experience.
- Strong learners with the right mindset, technical foundation, and interest in growing within the role are encouraged to apply.
