Job Description:

Position Summary:
Position maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Plan. Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibrations and repair of a limited scope of biomedical equipment under the guidance and direct supervision of an experienced healthcare technology managements (HTM) professional.

Job Specific Responsibilities:
  • Repair and maintain a variety of hospital medical equipment and systems in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer, all regulatory agencies and client guidelines and practices; maintain documentation consistent with all maintenance activities performed; order repair parts and track receipt of all purchased items.
  • React to emergencies and urgent needs for service, as well as participate in the on-call process which demands being available for response on off-hours as well as weekends.
  • Assemble, inspect and install new equipment.
  • Inspect incoming non-hospital owned equipment.
  • Ability to meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description is an essential function of the job.
  • Participating in meetings, study sessions, departmental activities and education to include manufacturer and / or vendor training.
  • Involvement in special projects, incidents involving equipment and / or other assignments as indicated.
  • Exhibits a basic understanding and can communicate the use of devices supported.
  • Proves basic support of acuity equipment for direct patient care.
  • Familiar with the operations and environment that they support (hospital, clinic, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of both local and national public safety and regulatory issues.
  • Solve basic front-line customer service issues.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of clinical equipment, radiological, laboratory and network medical systems.
  • Drive company and/or personal vehicle between various client locations for meetings/projects or to service and/or install equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Experience :
  • Minimum 1-2 years of job-related experience is preferred

Education:
  • Two-year associate’s degree in biomedical equipment technology, electronics, military or equivalent training and experience

Licenses and Certifications :
  • Certification as a Biomedical Equipment Technician is preferred
  • Valid unrestricted driver’s license and proof of insurance is required
