Job Description
- The client is seeking a Software Engineer II with a solid background in telecom provisioning to join our engineering team.
- This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on the systems that provision and automate internet, cable modem, and wireless services for our customers across Alaska.

- Design, develop, and maintain provisioning systems for internet (cable modem) and wireless services
- Build and maintain automation workflows using Ansible, C#/.NET, and related tooling to reduce manual processes and operational costs
- Develop and enhance web UIs using Angular or Next.js
- Integrate with telecom vendor platforms and APIs, including Ericsson switching elements, Incognito (cable modem), and AppLogic/Ericsson systems
- Contribute to DevOps practices using Atlassian tools (Bamboo, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
- Maintain and optimize MySQL databases supporting provisioning workflows
- Support Linux-based systems and Apache web server infrastructure
- Collaborate with team members, participate in code reviews, and contribute to architectural decisions
- Participate in production support rotation — this is a live production environment; occasional after-hours availability is expected
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience (Level II)
- Preferred Experience (not required):
- Demonstrated experience in the telecommunications industry — specifically provisioning of cable modem services and/or wireless services
- Proven track record of delivering results: automation projects, cost savings, system improvements you can speak to clearly and concisely
- Experience working with or integrating telecom vendor platforms (Ericsson, Incognito, AppLogic, or comparable competitors)
- Ansible – automation and configuration management
- C# / .NET – backend development
- MySQL – database design and management
- Linux – systems administration and scripting
- Apache Web Server – configuration and management
- Angular or Next.js – frontend/UI development
- Atlassian Suite – Bamboo, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket
- VMware and virtual machine environments – on-premise infrastructure focus
- GraphQL – API development and integration
- AWS or Azure experience — cloud knowledge is a plus, but we are primarily on-premises today; someone whose entire day revolves around cloud work is not the right fit
- Container experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Perl — legacy code migration experience is a bonus
- 6+ years of total IT/engineering experience
