Developing an Inspection Readiness Framework for a Leading Biopharmaceutical Company

Our client, a leading biotech company, is at the forefront of developing groundbreaking therapies for severe genetic disorders. They are recognized for their innovative approach, with a strong pipeline that includes treatments for cystic fibrosis and promising therapies for other challenging diseases, improving the lives of many patients worldwide. Their commitment to creating life-changing treatments continues to position them as a leader in the biotech industry.

CHALLENGE

A rapidly growing biopharmaceutical company, with a significant pipeline of assets awaiting submission for health authority approval, recognized the need for a comprehensive inspection readiness framework. This framework was essential to ensure compliance and streamline the approval process for their upcoming drug submissions. The initiative was strategically important to maintain the company's competitive edge in the fast-paced biopharmaceutical industry.

APPROACH

As the Senior Program/Project Manager, our expert led the development of a cross-functional inspection readiness framework, strategically designed to prepare the organization for health authority inspections 12+ months in advance of drug submissions.

The project involved leveraging over 15 years of business analysis expertise to drive the business in providing key insights and ensuring accurate documentation of processes. The expert played a pivotal role in the successful communication and delivery of a new inspection management software to the appropriate stakeholders.

In addition, Lean Six Sigma skills were employed to facilitate current state process mapping and evaluation, identifying existing process issues and breaks. The expert worked closely with senior cross-GxP leaders to drive the development of future state processes, ensuring all documentation and evaluations aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

The expert’s foundational GxP knowledge was instrumental in interfacing with study teams and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), effectively bridging the gap between project management, business analysis, and the functional/clinical expertise of the teams involved.

IMPACT

The inspection readiness framework developed under the leadership of our expert positioned the biopharmaceutical company to handle health authority inspections with confidence. The framework not only addressed the immediate needs but was also scalable to support the company’s rapid growth. By proactively preparing for inspections well in advance, the organization was able to minimize risks and enhance operational readiness for future submissions and approvals.

Our expert’s strategic and tactical contributions ensured that the project delivered on its goals, setting the company on a path for continued success in the biopharmaceutical market.
