Job Description:
Position is responsible for maintaining System Accounting activities including: general ledger month-end close, complex account analysis, and reconciliations, including sub-system reconciliations. Recommends changes in accounting systems and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Two (2) to four (4) years of accounting work experience
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and financial accounting knowledge
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare and upload journal entries to the general ledger, including the consolidation of business units and corresponding eliminating entries, to prepare system financials.
- Ensures the accuracy of the recorded transactions.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts with various monthly statements (bank statements, sub-system ledgers), makes adjustments as necessary, and reports material variances to management.
- Prepares schedules for financial reporting to internal and external sources, to include auditor requests.
- Compiles financial data to aid higher level accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
- Collects financial data and analyzes expenses, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
- Prepares financial reports that aid management in determining the proper accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures.
- Ensures compliance with accounting and reporting deadlines.
- Assists with moderately complex accounting projects as assigned by management.
- Documents, identifies, and provides recommendations for process improvements and controls.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
- Serves as a resource to less experienced staff.
