Analytics Data Architect

Description:

We are pre-qualifying candidates for an Analytics Data Architect to work with our client’s Predictive Analytics Team (PA Team). This professional will be a key member of the organization’s Enterprise Data Architecture (EDA) Team with a focus on analytics and business intelligence solutions. In that context, the individual should have foundational knowledge and awareness of:

•             Analytics and Big Data technologies (including Hadoop)

•             Data Modeling for both analytic and traditional solutions

•             Dimensional as well as E-R design experience

•             Meta Data & Master Data Management

•             Data Quality & Information Governance

•             Enterprise Data Architecture

Enterprise Data Architecture (EDA) is part of the broader Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Team responsible for logical database design, physical database implementations, and data/content integration services for both analytics as well as traditional information technology solutions.

Our Predictive Analytics Team (PA Team) is focused specifically on the application of Hadoop and related “Big Data” technologies to provide unique business value to the railroad. In that capacity, the PA Team requires a capable data architect with knowledge and experience in areas such as:

•             Hadoop, Spark, and Hbase

•             Agile development methodology and the Scaled Agile Framework

•             Messaging technologies such as TIBCO and Kafka

•             Designing conceptual, logical and physical data models using industry standard tools (ideally PowerDesigner)

•             Dimensional modeling, data warehousing and Big Data concepts along with traditional normalization and entity-relationship data modeling techniques

•             Teradata, DB2, SQL Server, Oracle or other relational database management systems

•             Data quality and data governance tools

•             ETL, and application concepts, practices and procedures

•             An appreciation for and ability to create and maintain high quality metadata

Professional / Personal Skills:

•             Experience in effective communication at different levels (i.e. junior team members, peers, management, senior management) of the organization

•             Experience in providing technical data design guidance and direction

•             Ability to build strong relationships across organizations

•             Ability to demonstrate innovation and creativity when faced with challenging situations

•             Strong leadership and problem solving skills

•             Excellent interpersonal skills

•             Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Education / Experience Requirements:

•             BS / MS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience in the field

•             7+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture, data modeling, and data design

•             Knowledge of freight / transportation industry helpful
