Job Overview
Our client is seeking a Safety Training Manager to lead safety education and compliance efforts for a major fiber-to-the-home infrastructure project in Memphis, TN. This individual will play a key role in training field personnel, reinforcing an “Incident-Free” culture, and ensuring that our client's safety training initiatives align with federal, state, and client-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a positive safety culture aligned with our Incident-Free philosophy.
- Design, develop, and deliver EHS training programs that meet OSHA, client MSA, apprenticeship, and regulatory standards.
- Instruct team members on topics including hazard recognition, fall protection, confined space awareness, lockout/tagout, arc flash/NFPA 70E, and more.
- Ensure compliance with our client's Safety Management System and maintain accurate training records.
- Collaborate with EHS, project, and training stakeholders to identify knowledge gaps and proactively implement solutions.
- Create and update instructional content including PowerPoint decks, handouts, and competency tests.
- Evaluate training effectiveness using hands-on assessments and feedback tools.
- Assist in investigating safety concerns and incidents, advising personnel on remediation and preventive measures.
- Cross-train with subject matter experts in additional safety topics to increase team versatility.
- Schedule and manage recurring and project-specific safety training sessions.Travel within the Memphis area to support training at job sites and local offices.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in an HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) management role.
- 2–3 years as an HSE trainer in an industrial construction environment.
- 3+ years of underground utility construction experience, ideally within telecom or utility sectors.
- Solid knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 / 1926, EPA, DOT, and related regulations.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead training and influence behavior.
- Ability to analyze risks, solve problems, and implement corrective actions.
- Comfortable working in field environments, including climbing ladders, accessing confined spaces, and navigating uneven terrain.
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends if necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) Certification.
- Associate degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related discipline.
- OSHA 500 Trainer Certification.
- Specialized training or certifications in trenching/excavation, confined space, traffic control, or DOT compliance.
