The client Regulatory Division's Food Safety Management System (FSMS) is at the forefront of this mission, and we're seeking a skilled iOS Developer to join the team that is tasked to maintain and enhance the iOS application that supports the FSMS.

About the FSMS iOS Application
This application is a key tool used by field agents to conduct inspections at food manufacturing, retail, and dairy facilities. It streamlines the inspection process by enabling agents to:

  • Collect and record data on-site
  • Capture product samples and associate them with inspection data
  • Transmit inspection data and sample information directly to the State Lab for analysis
  • Make inspection data available for reporting and display on the FSMS web application.

Principal Duties
  • Application Maintenance and Support: Ensure the FSMS iOS application remains fully functional according to the needs of the end users, up-to-date, and aligned with evolving iOS standards.
  • New Feature Development: Collaborate with the client's Regulatory Division staff to identify areas for improvement and develop new features that enhance the application's functionality and user experience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with both the Regulatory Division, and at times the State Lab, to gather requirements, understand workflows, and ensure the application effectively supports the end-to-end food safety inspection process.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous testing and debugging protocols to deliver a high-quality, reliable application.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of the application's codebase, features, and user guides.
  • User Training and Support: Provide training and ongoing support to the client  Regulatory Division staff on the effective use of the FSMS iOS application.

Minimum Qualifications
Technical Expertise:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional iOS development experience
  • Proficiency in Swift and Objective-C
  • Deep understanding of iOS frameworks, design patterns, and best practices
  • Experience with Xcode, Interface Builder, and other relevant development tools
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, data serialization, and database interactions
  • Experience with offline data storage and synchronization
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Commitment to Food Safety: A genuine interest in supporting the client's mission to protect public health through food safety.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with government or regulatory compliance systems
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and inspection processes
