North Dallas organization is looking for a strong mathematically minded Business Data Analyst that has done a good amount of programming to take on a large project within one of the energy practices. Prefer a Fulltime person but might be willing to consider someone as a CTH. Really want someone that wants to be a a long-term player on the team. Should have solid mathematics/statistics/engineering type education/background and/or experience. Skills and duties include: 80% of time working in Excel/VBA for Excel and 20% doing SQL Server queries. This is an opportunity for you to learn the energy industry and you will need to be someone that wants to use technology for the sake of solving business problems....Will work extensively with engineers so must be able to communicate and relate with engineering mindsets. Must have some demonstrated programming experience in SOME language. Types of mathematical work will include developing various types of models (i.e. allocation model or damages model) using VBA macros to interface between various technologies. Using SQL call to retrieve data and load into Excel and then use Excel formula to calculate the results, prepare reports and save results back to original platform.....or use a recursive algorithm implemented in VBA and SQL to calculate some value......) Can be calculating sales data, production data, value, fees, transportation costs, volumes........any sort of data......just very numbers oriented. DOES NOT MATTER WHAT INDUSTRY.......You will do a good amount of interfacing between the Consultants and the Technology folks and the customers. Will need to be one that takes initiative, thinks ahead and looks for ways to solve issues and looks for issues to solve. Must be really good at Math type work and must also be able to communicate easily with people. Willing to take someone right out of school or with up to 3 yrs experience if the right person......Formal requirements below: - Math/Statistics/Science/EngineeringLooking for someone who has a technical background with very strong analytical skills and tendencies- Flexible person who can work with very experienced individuals Most of the persons this candidate will be working with are engineers with 20+ years of experience and may know what the answer is, how they got it, but may not clearly understand how to put that into a tool or project that others can use.- Microsoft Excel and PowerPointIntensive use of VBA in Excel (and PowerPoint).
