Job Description
- The client is seeking 2 experienced and well-rounded Senior Cloud Engineers (with architecture experience) to join our core enterprise cloud operations and modernization team.
- These individuals will provide day-to-day support across AWS and hybrid on-premises environments, ensuring stability, performance, and uptime of mission-critical, public-facing systems.
- In addition to operational support, the engineers will also contribute to modernization efforts — including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, containerization, and integration of emerging technologies — working with senior architects to guide longer-term strategy while driving hands-on execution.
- Design and implement enterprise cloud solutions within a hybrid architecture (AWS + on-prem).
- Participate in modernization of legacy systems through lift-and-shift, re-platforming, containerization, and refactoring.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible),and automated workflows via GitHub Actions and similar tooling.
- Collaborate on hybrid storage strategies leveraging NetApp ONTAP and caching appliances integrated with AWS.
- Apply expertise across both Windows Server and Linux (RHEL/Amazon Linux) environments.
- Serve as a key contributor in cross-functional architecture discussions and migration planning.
- Ensure alignment with governance, tagging, security, and operational policies.
- Troubleshoot technical issues across the stack: compute, network, storage, identity, and containers.
- 7+ years of enterprise IT experience with a blend of architecture and hands-on engineering.
- Proven experience designing and implementing AWS solutions in enterprise or government settings.
- Prior direct, hands-on experience supporting cloud migrations at scale.
- Demonstrated success supporting mission-critical applications with high visibility and uptime expectations.
- Proficiency in both Windows Server administration and Linux systems (RHEL or Amazon Linux).
- Strong experience with Terraform, Ansible, and GitHub/GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with AWS-native container services such as ECS, Fargate, and EKS, with practical experience deploying or supporting containerized workloads in production.
- Hybrid storage expertise: experience with NetApp, caching appliances, or FSx for ONTAP.
- Strong scripting and automation capabilities (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
- Baseline familiarity with modern AI technologies, including Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns in cloud-native architectures.
- Experience with GitHub Enterprise, branching strategies, and DevSecOps practices.
- Exposure to multi-account AWS organizations and hybrid networking design.
- Background in state or government agency environments a plus.
- Equally comfortable whiteboarding architecture and writing automation scripts.
- Able to work across silos, bring people together, and guide consensus.
- Thrives in high-accountability, low-handholding environments.
- Operates with a disruptor mindset - challenges outdated models, while navigating government dynamics with diplomacy.
- Bachelor’s degree or substantial career experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- AWS Cloud Certification (AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional) preferred.
