Talent Groups was hired by a nonprofit, multispecialty academic medical center that provides advanced medical care to patients from all over the world. It is one of the largest and most respected hospitals in the United States, with over 70,000 employees and physicians across several locations. CHALLENGE

The health system was implementing Epic Beaker and needed to complete the build and testing in time for their go-live. After the initial go-live, they needed support for the Beaker Team for new go-lives and assistance to manage incidents. The Beaker Team needed help completing these incidents to support Lab Caregivers in a timely manner. This health system had multiple locations in different states and needed to prevent escalations and ensure the quick resolution of reported issues. 

APPROACH

Talent Groups provided a System Analyst with experience implementing Beaker at large multi-center organizations. The consultant was certified in Epic Beaker CP, AP, and LAB400, with extensive laboratory experience with various LIS systems. His experience included Pathology, Microbiology, lab operations, billing, and integration of various LIS with EPIC Beaker via EPIC Bridges. 

The Talent Groups consultant worked on Beaker build, testing, and issue resolution, including Micro build, Auto Verification testing, send-outs, and interface testing. The consultant also provided on-call support over the weekends, supported instrument interfaces, and assisted with incidents and requests. 

IMPACT

The Analyst's experience in instrument interfaces and Beaker build helped the team to complete the build and testing in time for go-live, and provided quick support to users. The Analyst also worked on various P2 system-wide downtime issues, worked with instrument vendors for quick support, and pinpointed and resolved larger issues affecting other teams.

The project provided much-needed assistance to users, assisting pathologists and providers who worked in critical care departments. The Analyst received positive feedback from infectious disease physicians and blood bank users for providing timely support and resolving ongoing issues. The Analyst's timely assistance helped the blood bank team and the authorizing physician to complete the patient's surgery in the L&D department.
