Jeff Miller On The Technology Association Of Oregon’s Technology Services Forum

The panel discussed hiring trends and best practices companies can utilize for recruitment and retention purposes in their organizations. In today’s market, when companies are looking for critical talent for their technical services positions, they are finding that recruiting is becoming a difficult undertaking. Not finding that perfect candidate with the right technical skills, combined with a strong business acumen can be inhibitive to achieving business objectives.

When companies are trying to recruit technical services talent, Jeff explained how employers can differentiate themselves from other companies or competitors to obtain the best candidates, “Be passionate and excited about what you do and people will gravitate toward that.” He also emphasized showing these candidates what kind of impact they will be able to make in an organization. “There is definitely a perception that the glory comes from being a software programmer, however the services group can quite often make a direct impact with the customer and for future business.” says Jeff. He recommends showing your technical services candidates exactly how they’ll make a difference in your organization, getting them excited and sharing in your company’s passion.
