Queen Consulting Reorganizes to Improve Results

Queen Consulting is excited to announce that we are creating four new divisions to provide faster and better results to both our clients and our candidates. In response to industry-wide changes, Queen’s management is realigning the way we work to reflect the way that clients are now seeking candidates.

The new structure is within Queen’s recruiting team. Each division is headed by a Recruiting Delivery Lead, paired with a Client Delivery Specialist and supported by a team of Technical Recruiters. The four new divisions are:

  • State Government, led by Recruiting Delivery Lead Amy Migliore
  • VMS, overseen by Recruiting Delivery Lead Taylor Garrand
  • Pharma, led by Recruiting Delivery Lead Chelsea Calvanese
  • Commercial, headed by Recruiting Manager Kristin Murphy

Amy Migliore, Queen’s Vice President of Recruiting & Delivery, describes the role of Recruiting Delivery Lead as a cross between a recruiter and an account manager. The Lead evaluates job opportunities, prioritizes them, and works with a team of dedicated recruiters to find both the top candidates for each job and the best opportunities for each candidate. The Lead coordinates closely with what Amy calls the “unsung hero”—the Client Delivery Specialist, who supports the client and oversees the candidate submittals for each position.

Adapting to a Changing Industry

According to Amy, “Our business was traditionally organized by account managers, each of whom would serve specific client accounts and work with groups of recruiters. But in recent years, the industry has shifted toward using large third-party managed service providers (MSP) to control the hiring process. The MSP distributes job opportunities to staffing companies, typically through vendor management systems (VMS), meaning that there’s less direct contact with clients, and turnaround has become very fast. The goal for clients is to speed hiring up and to find better candidates.”

“In this environment, our recruiters use their understanding of the client, the job opportunity and the candidates to quickly make decisions about who is the best fit for each opportunity,” says Amy. Reflecting that reality, Queen’s reorganization empowers recruiters and allows them more ownership of the process.

Another shift over the years has been a broadening of our client base beyond our original niche in healthcare IT to encompass financial services, pharmaceuticals, state governments and more. “We have seen that our diverse clients want specialization and relationships from recruiters. This reorg deepens those relationships,” says Amy.

Amy continues, “Queen is always looking to embrace change and new ideas, because the market is always changing—2022 is no different. And if a change doesn’t work out, we can pivot and make adjustments. One big reason we are excited about this realignment is it allows us to provide our own recruiters with more opportunities for growth.”

Taking a Look at Those New Divisions

In existence now for about six months, State Government was the first of our specialized groups to be launched, and it is being used as a model as we roll out our other divisions. Lead Amy Migliore and a team of dedicated recruiters currently work with seventeen states. With their understanding of each state’s programs and requirements, they can place top candidates in opportunities spanning much of the nation.

Reorganized at the beginning of 2022, the VMS team consists of Lead Taylor Garrand and a team of experienced technical recruiters. Building on their detailed knowledge of each VMS and the related MSPs, this team constantly monitors VMS portals to discover opportunities that match the talents and career goals of our candidates.

Pharma is the newest division. Our business with pharmaceutical and other life sciences organizations has grown over the past few years and we are now reorganizing internally to focus a team on this segment of our business. “To deliver pharma well, we have to specialize in pharma,” says Amy. To that end, a priority for Lead Chelsea Calvanese and her team of two recruiters is to provide training to the Queen Consulting staff on building relationships and pipelines with pharmaceutical professionals. We plan to increase our investment in the training of our recruiting and delivery team to build on our knowledge of the industry and the very specific recruiting strategies which can be applied.

Although recently restructured, the Commercial division has the most experienced team. This group is adhering to the more traditional structure, with recruiters continuing to be aligned with account managers, who work directly with the clients’ hiring managers. Kristin Murphy is the Recruiting Manager for this group. One of the areas Queen really shines is when there is the opportunity to engage directly with hiring managers, learn about their team culture and projects, and hear from them what they are looking for. It gives Queen’s recruiters the ability to go deeper to find that perfect match.

(Our healthcare clients are being supported within the VMS, Commercial and State divisions, depending on the needs of each specific account.)

Deeper Relationships, Faster Results

Our new structure gives Queen’s recruiters a clearer, deeper and up-to-date understanding of each client’s needs, which means that our recruiters—knowing which candidates may be the best, most qualified fit—can then very quickly submit top candidates.

Likewise, having a greater understanding of the capabilities and goals of a larger pool of candidates means that Queen recruiters quickly recognize appropriate jobs and can offer candidates more targeted opportunities from a larger sphere of jobs, all over the country.

Summing up the overall benefits of Queen’s reorganization to both our clients and candidates, Amy says, “It’s really about building deeper relationships with clients and candidates in order to provide better and faster results.”
