Random Acts of Kindness

Forge Connections Through Random Acts of Kindness

“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”—Princess Diana

Queen Consulting Group is excited to share the good news about our Random Acts of Kindness campaign! In an effort to spread positivity, help people feel less isolated and encourage kindness during this holiday season, we're putting the spotlight on the amazing amount of good so many people do to help other folks, often under the radar.

For our Random Acts of Kindness campaign, we are inviting our employees, clients and consultants to share a story about an act of kindness that happened in 2021. Each story you enter will earn a chance to receive a $1,000 donation to a charity of your choice. Maybe you were the giver; maybe you were the recipient—either way, we want to hear about it. It’s simple to enter, so please let us know about your own acts of kindness!

A Reflection of Queen’s Culture

This campaign is a natural extension of the way Queen Consulting tries to make a difference in its communities. As Marketing Director Amy Carabase says, “Queen is very involved in our communities—always has been. This campaign ties into both the holiday spirit and what Queen is all about. After a busy and productive year, we wanted to give back in a concrete way and to help the causes that are important to our people. And it’s a great way to reach out to our clients and consultants and get them involved, as well.

In addition to supporting numerous causes with financial donations, Queen Cares has frequently supported charitable organizations with hands-on efforts by our employees, including the annual National Kidney Foundation Walk, which raises funds across the country for one of our major clients. Boston-area Queen employees have found volunteering in the kitchen of the Pine Street Inn, which serves homeless men and women, to be particularly rewarding.

(Visit our Queen Cares page on our website to get an idea of the many ways we have supported numerous organizations, both local and national, over the years.)

Senior Technical Recruiter Shannon Goodrich says, “COVID changed the landscape of our some of our volunteer work. For instance, in previous years, many of our employees would do the Kidney Walk and we’d staff a Queen booth at the event; yet even in 2020, a dozen of our employees managed to do the walk here in Boston.”

“When we know that a consultant is going through a difficult time, our team will reach out to check in and offer support,” adds Amy. “Our staff genuinely cares about the people we’ve placed. Queen is a great team to work with.”

Recruiting Manager Kristin Murphy says, “Throughout COVID, we have seen many of our employees donate to local food pantries, especially during the early days of the pandemic, or write personal notes of thanks to teachers and other essential workers. I know when I receive a thank you note from a candidate, it really means a lot that someone took the time to express their gratitude.”

Finding Connection in a Disconnected Time

Queen employees who have participated in our group efforts have found the experience to be eye-opening. For instance, each year our employees volunteer to prepare food in the kitchen of Boston’s Pine Street Inn, the largest homeless services provider in New England. “The people running the Inn are so appreciative,” says Kristin, “but for us, it’s an amazing experience to see the other side of life, to be reminded of what people don’t have.”

“It can be uncomfortable,” adds Shannon. “It’s hard to walk in there and feel awkward at first, but these experiences get us out of our bubble and give us a new perspective. There’s more going on in the world that we don’t see.”

About that idea of feeling uncomfortable and awkward when making contact with others, Shannon explains, “It’s like we’re lost in a digital age. We’re so accustomed to email and text that it becomes easier not to call and speak with someone. This is a very disconnected time, even if we are living in what’s called a connected world, with so many people working remotely. The truth is, we’re all here together, even if we are apart.”

With that in mind, Queen Consulting invites you to think about the connections you make and the quiet kindnesses you see or do. Share them with us—tell us the story of how you made a difference or someone made a difference for you. Let’s make this a holiday season to remember for all the right reasons: each one of us, connecting with others, spreading positivity and kindness.
