C-ski Day 2019: Hitting The Slopes With Colorado’s It Leaders

by Graham Shalvoy on Apr 24, 2019 in  EdgeLink Denver

Denver is a great place to live and work, and with a growing tech scene, it’s an exciting time to be a part of the Denver IT industry. One of our favorite days of the year here at the Denver EdgeLink office is C-Ski Day, a networking event that brings together IT leaders from around the state for a day of networking and fun on the slopes. Now in its eighth-year, C-Ski Day continues to be a success, and EdgeLink is proud to have sponsored the event, along with other Colorado technology companies, for eight years and counting.

As an IT staffing firm, we believe in a personalized, targeted approach when working with our clients and candidates, and we’re passionate about the local tech community. C-Ski Day is the perfect opportunity to connect with like-minded technology professionals outside of traditional spaces. Talking with our colleagues and local tech leaders, we enjoy hearing new insights and current concerns, all while greeting old friends and making new connections on the slopes.

This year’s C-Ski Day began early, with participants gathering around 8 a.m. at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area. Located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains just outside Denver, Arapahoe Basin is known for its panoramic views of the surrounding mountain range. Lucky for us, it also offers one of the longest ski seasons. The weather cooperated for the most part, with a mix of intermittent showers and blue skies. Snow fall from the day before created good powder conditions on the slopes, and despite the mix of weather, there was a great turnout of about 100 people. We began the day with networking and some snow flurries, and by mid-morning we were on the slopes, excited to take advantage of the fresh powder.

After a few hours on the mountain, everyone was ready for a lunch break and participants re-gathered at the bottom of the slopes to eat, relax and chat with more of the IT leaders who were in attendance. Some groups discussed the latest IT trends affecting business, while others focused on the Denver IT scene. With the constant changes in technology and the growth of Denver’s IT industry, events like C-Ski Day are an important opportunity for Colorado professionals and industry leaders to connect and share experiences and information.

While the whole day was a lot of fun, one of the highlights of the event is supporting the CAIC Colorado Avalanche Information Center. The center offers avalanche information and education to the public and promotes research to help protect the life, property and economy of Colorado citizens. In total, C-Ski Day contributed more than $15,000 to CAIC and its mission.

C-Ski Day gets better every year and we are grateful to be a part of it. We would like to thank Flexential for sponsoring the event and all of the Colorado IT leaders who joined us on the slopes. We’re already getting excited for next year’s C-Ski Day!
