Fun And Networking On The Slopes: C-ski Day 2018

by Graham Shalvoy on Apr 19, 2018 in EdgeLink Denver

One of our favorite events of the year in the Denver office is C-Ski Day, a day on the slopes with some of Colorado’s top IT leaders. EdgeLink has been a proud sponsor of this event for the past seven years, along with a number of others in the Colorado technology industry.

We are passionate about our local tech community and love being able to connect with like-minded professionals in a non-traditional environment like this one. C-Ski Day provides an amazing opportunity to meet with peers in the technology space, hear their insights and concerns, and further our connections with local tech leadership. In addition to meeting new connections and greeting friends and colleagues that we’ve known for years, C-Ski Day offers a chance to have fun and bond with our Denver EdgeLink team outside the office.

Our day started in the Arapahoe Basin, a beautiful ski area in the Rocky Mountains outside of Denver. Despite temperatures in the teens and heavy snowfall, there was a great turnout of 75 people on the slopes. We were surrounded by snow flurries as our day started with networking, and by 10:30 we were up on the mountain ready to enjoy the fresh powder around us. Once we’d worked up an appetite, it was back for lunch and the chance to chat with more of the great IT leaders who attended. This part of the day also included a raffle, and EdgeLink was happy to give away a Suunto GPS watch to one lucky winner!

After lunch, we had plenty more time to talk to new friends and old connections, discussing the latest IT trends affecting our businesses, the state of the Denver tech market, and our own lives and backgrounds. As the IT landscape constantly changes, these opportunities to share experiences and views become even more important to us in being able to partner with Denver’s technology industry and professionals.

The highlight of the day was supporting the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC). The CAIC provides avalanche information and education to the public and promotes research that helps to protect Colorado citizens’ life, property, and economy. In all, C-Ski Day facilitated a more than $15,000 donation to CAIC, which will help the organization get snow safety information to backcountry travelers.

This is truly one of our favorite events of the year. We would like to thank Flexential for sponsoring the event and all of the Colorado IT leaders who came out to spend their day on the slopes. We’re already looking forward to next year!
