CLIENT OVERVIEW
Our client is a global biotechnology company that invests in scientific innovation to create transformative medicines for people with serious diseases. The company has multiple approved medicines that treat the underlying cause of rare, life-threatening genetic diseases, and has several ongoing clinical and research programs.
CHALLENGE
The organization sought Program Management support in IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) to augment its technology team supporting the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Quality and Regulatory Officer, and Chief Patient Officer.
Several initiatives were underway, including strengthening access reviews, improving inspection readiness, and enhancing a ServiceNow module to support GRC operations. The organization required a senior consultant with deep expertise in Governance, Risk, and Compliance within a GxP environment, hands-on experience with SOX and related control frameworks, and proven program management leadership.
APPROACH
Talent Groups provided a senior consultant with deep experience supporting IT teams within pharmaceutical organizations, complemented by a background in Chemistry. The consultant brought extensive expertise in managing applications across Medical Affairs, Technical Operations, Legal, Corporate Communications, Global Quality, Corporate Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, and IT, with oversight of GRC-focused initiatives.
Working closely with IT and Audit teams, the consultant assessed gaps and opportunities within the ServiceNow Audit module and collaborated with IT leadership to understand the existing technology landscape and identify workflow improvements. Across cross-functional stakeholders, the consultant planned and executed enhancements aligned with the ServiceNow release cycle to ensure seamless adoption.
In parallel, the consultant led initiatives to automate Access Control processes and optimize Access Reviews, replacing manual workflows with more efficient, controlled solutions. This included conducting a systems landscape analysis to evaluate available technologies and recommend tools that supported compliance and operational efficiency.
IMPACT
The consultant rapidly onboarded, developed strong cross-functional relationships, and provided immediate momentum across complex GRC initiatives. Through disciplined program management and technical leadership, teams were aligned to deliver technology solutions that simplified cross-functional integration, improved process efficiency, and reduced manual effort.
As a result, risk-informed decision-making was embedded into daily operations, strengthening alignment between the business, security, and IT functions while advancing the organization’s overall GRC maturity.
