Medical Affairs IT Leadership

Talent Groups partners with many different types of life sciences companies, including Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, and Biotech companies to recruit the top talent available in the market, with the niche skills you need for your projects.

CLIENT OVERVIEW

Our client is a pharmaceutical company that was pivoting from a single drug company to a multi-therapeutic company. As the company has grown, their technology landscape needed to grow too. They were ramping up in many areas, particularly Medical Affairs.

CHALLENGE

Our client experienced some turnover in their Medical Affairs IT team and had a gap of leadership. They needed an experienced IT consultant to augment the team supporting the Medical Affairs business function. They needed a strategic leader who could own the business relationship, understand the scope, purpose, and goals of the program, and also drop down into the details and help deliver on projects. This group had several key projects including an evaluation and migration to their core CRM system.

APPROACH

Talent Groups partnered with the organization to understand their team and company culture and analyze the type of people that would best fit into their environment to be successful. They then went to their network to find some candidate options that would be a match for the needs of the group and possess the required technical expertise.

Talent Groups vetted candidates through multiple screenings and references and presented a couple of strong options to the hiring team. They coordinated through the interview and offer, communicating with both sides to facilitate an easy process.

IMPACT

Talent Groups provided an experienced pharmaceutical IT leader to provide hands-on support. This person came in with prior expertise in the area of Medical Affairs, including Medical Science Liaison (MSL) field operations and the systems supporting them, and oversaw delivery teams and applications with the portfolio. These systems include content management systems, grant management systems, medical inquiry tracking systems, etc.

The consultant built strong relationships across the business and directed multiple projects such as the implementation of a new Grants Management System called CyberGrants, migrating from a different legacy system. They worked with the business on the workflow, coordinated with the vendor, and worked with IT teams on the configuration, keeping in line with federal regulations. There were several complexities to the implementation such as integration points with other systems and updating to include new therapeutic areas for the company.

Talent Groups' consultant also managed an upgrade project regarding a medical inquiry tracking system, which was partially built in Salesforce. They worked on designing and implementing a standard cycle for communication and testing with a managed service provider in regards, to the Salesforce releases and the MSP's software release.

The company was very happy with the consultant provided and extended the engagement several times, eventually transitioning the individual to another team when the work was complete.
